Getting your API keys

Enclave AI runs entirely in your browser with your own provider keys — nothing is billed to, or routed through, anyone but you. You need one key to start; the other two unlock extra features.

Groq

Required

Every ~10 seconds of both your microphone and the call audio is sent to Groq's Whisper API and transcribed. Without this key the app can't do anything, so “Start meeting” stays disabled.

  1. 01Go to console.groq.com and sign up — it's free, with Google, GitHub, or email.
  2. 02Open API Keys in the left-hand navigation (or go straight to console.groq.com/keys).
  3. 03Click Create API Key, give it a name you'll recognise later (for example “Enclave AI”), and submit.
  4. 04Copy the key that appears — it starts with gsk_ and is shown only once. If you lose it, delete it and create a new one.
  5. 05In Enclave AI, open the console and paste the key into the field below. It saves to your browser as you type — there is no save button.

Where it goes: the console's left sidebar, under Connections → Groq — required.

Cost: Pay-as-you-go by audio length. The default “Fast” model (whisper-large-v3-turbo) is about $0.04 per hour of audio; “Most accurate” (whisper-large-v3) is about $0.11 per hour. New accounts get a free allowance; sustained use needs a payment method on file at Groq.

OpenRouter

Optional

The transcript is sent to a model of your choice through OpenRouter to generate the Summary and Outline and to answer questions in Ask. Skip this key and transcription and history still work fully — those three features just show a prompt to add a key.

  1. 01Go to openrouter.ai and sign in with Google, GitHub, or email.
  2. 02Open Keys from your account menu (openrouter.ai/keys).
  3. 03Click Create Key, name it, optionally cap how much it is allowed to spend, and create it.
  4. 04Copy the key — it starts with sk-or-.
  5. 05In the console sidebar, paste it into the field below.

Where it goes: the console's left sidebar, under Connections → OpenRouter.

Cost: Enclave AI defaults to the openrouter/free model, which is $0, and the “Free only” checkbox in the model picker keeps you on free models. If you switch to a paid model you'll need to add credit at openrouter.ai/credits.

Deepgram

Optional

After you stop a meeting, “Identify speakers” sends the buffered Participants audio to Deepgram once to split the single “Participants” label into “Participant 1”, “Participant 2”, and so on. Without this key the transcript still works — everyone on the far side is just labelled “Participants”.

  1. 01Go to console.deepgram.com and sign up — new accounts include a free credit grant.
  2. 02From the dashboard, find API Keys and click Create a New API Key, name it, and leave the default permissions.
  3. 03Copy the key — it is shown once.
  4. 04In the console sidebar, paste it into the field below.

Where it goes: the console's left sidebar, under Connections → Deepgram.

Cost: Drawn from your Deepgram credit. Diarised prerecorded audio on the nova-2 model is roughly $0.0043 per minute — a 30-minute call is a few cents.

About the app

Where are my keys stored?
In this browser's localStorage, on this device only. Each key is sent directly from your browser to its own provider (Groq, OpenRouter, Deepgram) and never passes through a server the app operates — there is no such server. Clearing site data removes them.
Does my audio or transcript go to a server you run?
No. Audio goes straight to Groq (and, only if you click “Identify speakers”, to Deepgram) from your browser. Transcripts, summaries, and history are stored only in this browser's IndexedDB. The app has no backend of its own — it's a static site.
Do I need all three keys?
Only Groq. OpenRouter unlocks Summary, Outline, and Ask; Deepgram unlocks per-speaker labels. Add either one whenever you want those features.
Which browsers work?
Chrome or Edge on desktop for full dual-channel capture (your mic plus the call). Safari and Firefox can capture your microphone but not tab or system audio, so you would only get your own side of the conversation.
Why does it ask me to share a tab or screen?
That is the only way a web page can hear audio playing on your device — the other people on the call. Only the audio track is used; the video track is discarded immediately and is never recorded, transcribed, or sent anywhere.
Can I use it offline?
No. Both audio channels need a live connection to Groq to transcribe. Meetings you have already recorded can still be viewed offline.
What happens to my meeting history?
It stays in this browser (currently the 15 most recent meetings; older ones are auto-removed). Use “Export all” on the History page for a backup — switching browsers, clearing site data, or moving to a new device will not carry it over.

Recording other people may require their consent under the laws of your state, country, or organization. You're responsible for knowing and following those rules before you hit Start. This is a personal tool; its creator isn't responsible for how you use it.
